F6 visas are for foreign spouses of Korean nationals who wish to live in Korea.

Visa Validity:
The applicant will be given 12 months on their first application.
They may apply for a visa extension with a longer visa validity (2.5 years) once they enter Korea.
NOTE: The applicant might be granted a longer visa validity if the couple has children
Benefits of having an F-6 visa:
- Be able to work in any industry in Korea without restrictions
- Be able to apply for government support
- Be able to invite family members to Korea
- Easily switch to F2 or F5 visa after a few years
- Can apply for naturalization
Who can apply for F-6 visa
- Foreigners married to Korean Nationals.
- The applicant must be able to prove that he/she and the Korean spouse are able to communicate with each other.
- The applicant must also be able to prove their relationship.
- The applicant must also be able to show proof of their financial capacity to live in Korea.
Restrictions on F6 visa issuance
- Those who have been married to a foreigner within the last 5 years.
- Applicants who are married to Koreans who have aquired their Korean nationality by marrying a Korean national.
- Short-term visas, illegal aliens, those permitted to extend their period of stay for departure, criminal offenders, and G-1 visa holders cannot apply in Korea.

-Proof of completion or attendance in a Korean Language Institute
This can be waived if the Korean spouse is able to prove that he/she can speak the foreign spouse's languge and communicate with each other - Proof of Relationship.

International Marriage Guidance Program
Korean spouses who intend to marry foreign spouses from the following countries must attend courses in order to obtain the certificate:
Ghana, Nigeria, Nepal, Mongolia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Iran, Egypt, India, Indonesia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines
Exemptions:
- The Korean spouse has stayed in the foreign spouse's country for at least 6 months
- Both spouses live in a third country on a long-term visa
- The foreign spouse has resided in Korea for at least 91 days
- Pregnancy of the female spouse
Application Fee:

Processing fee: 130,000 won
Delivery fee: 4,500 won
Total: 134,500 won
For applications outside korea, the application fee will vary.

Inviter’s total income(before tax) for the previous 1 year must be more than the amount indicated at the below table

Steps for F-6 Visa Application
- Step 1: Gather all the necessary documents for the application
Visa Processing time:
It usually takes 3-8 weeks depending on the season and immigration office
Work Restrictions:
F6 visa holders are able to work in most industries without restrictions
Notes:
- The application process is much easier if the female spouse is pregnant or if the couple has children.
- In case the female spouse is pregnant, many of the requirements will be waved.
- In case the spouse is pregnant, the husband may also be exempted from the minimum income requirement as long as they provide a 소득없음 사실증명서
