Ways to Rent

There are 3 ways for you to rent a bike with 따릉이

• • Registered member - If you have a bank card issued in Korea
• • Guest/Non-member - If you have a bank card issued in Korea but don't want to join
• • Foreigner - If you only have a foreign issued bank card

Rental Process (Overview):

As a Registered Member

• Step 1: Register for an account
• Step 2: Purchase a pass
• Step 3: Find a bike that is available
• Step 4: Rent the bike

As a Guest / Non-member

• Step 1: Purchase a pass
• Step 2: Find a bike that is available
• Step 3: Rent the bike

As a Foreigner

• Step 1: Purchase a pass
• Step 2: Find a bike that is available
• Step 3: Rent the bike

How to Register as a member

• Step 0: Download the 따릉이 app on your phone

The app will ask for access to some of your phone's features and explain about the app

• Step 1: Click on the 회원 button
• Step 2: Click on the 회원가입 button
• Step 3: Click on the 일반가입 button
• Step 4: Select 만 14세 이상 button to indicate that you are over the age of 14, and Click on the checkmark to agree that you are over the age of 14
• Step 5: Click on 전체동의 to agree to all the terms and conditions and click on the 다음 button
• Step 6: Enter your Personal Information
  • 이름 (Name - as writen on your Resident Card)
  • 주민등록번호 - Your Resident Number
  • 휴대전화 인증 - Phone Verification
• Step 7: Enter your Phone number then click on the 은증요청 button
• Step 8: Enter the verification number you have received on your phone and click on the 확인 button
• Step 9: Click on the 다음 button

How to purchase a pass (member with a Korean bank card)

• Step 1: Open the 따릉이 account and choose 회원 if you are a member, 비회원 if you are a non-member, and Foreigner if you do not have a Korean bank card
• Step 2: If you chose 회원, login using your ID and Password. If not, proceed to next step
• Step 3: At the bottom of the screen, click on the 이용권 구매 or Purchase Pass button
• Step 4: Choose which type of Pass you would like to purchase
• Step 5: Click 다음
• Step 6: Choose your payment method you would prefer 
• Step 7: Click on the 결제하기 button to proceed with the payment
• Step 8: A popup about the payment options will appear, click on 확인
• If a the terms and conditions screen pops up, click on the 전체동의 to agree to them
• Step 9: At the payment screen, enter all the necessary details
• Step 10: Click on the 다음 (Next) or 결제하기 (Payment) button
• Step 11: Once the transaction is complete, a success message should popup on your screen
• Step 12: You can now proceed to rent an available bike
• Note: Paying using other methods like kakaopay or registering your card is much simpler compared to card payments

How to purchase a pass (non-member with a Korean bank card)

• Step 1: Open the 따릉이 account and choose 비회원 if you are a non-member
• Step 2: At the bottom of the screen, click on the 이용권 구매 or Purchase Pass button
• Step 3: Click on the circle next to the "I am over 14 years old" agreement
• Step 4: Select a Rental pass you wish to purchase
• Step 5: Choose which payment method you would prefer 
• Step 6: Enter your personal details
  • Type in your 주민번호 (Resident Number)
• Step 7: 휴대폰전화 번호 (Phone number) then click on the 인증요청 button
• Step 8: 인증 번호 입격 - Enter the verification you have received on your phone
• Step 9: Click on 전체동의 to agree to the terms and agreement
• Step 10: Click on the 결제하기 button to proceed with the payment
• Step 11: Enter all the necessary details for the payment
• Step 12: Click on the 다음 or Next button
• Step 13: Once the transaction is complete, a success message should popup on your screen, click on the 확인 button
• Step 14: You can now proceed to rent an available bike

How to purchase a pass as a Foreigner (with a foreign bank card)

• Step 1: Open the 따릉이 account and choose Foreigner if you do not have a Korean bank card
• Step 2: At the bottom of the screen, click on the 이용권 구매 or Purchase Pass button
• Step 3: Select the type of pass you want to purchase
• Step 4: Choose the credit card payment option
• Step 5: Enter your email,
• Step 6: Agree to the terms and conditions
• Step 7: Click on the Pay amount button located at the bottom of the screen
• Step 8:  In the next screen, click on the agree to all option to agree to the terms and conditons, then click on the Next button
• Step 9: Choose which payment method you would prefer - Visa, Master, JCB
• Step 10: Enter your card details and check the option that your Payment information has been confirmed
• Step 11: Click on the Next button
• Step 12: Once the transaction is complete and successful, a popup message should appear on your screen
• Step 13: You can now proceed to rent an available bike

How to find a 따릉이 parking station

• Step 1: On the 따릉이 app, click on the 지도 or map button located at the bottom left of the screen 
• Step 2: You will be able to see the parking areas as well as the number of available bikes

How to rent a 따릉이 bike

• Step 1: In the 따릉이 app, log in your account or continue as a guest or foreigner
• Step 2: On the map, search for the nearest 따릉이 parking station
• Step 3: Go to the parking station and look for an available bike
• Step 4: On your Phone select the 대여하기 button at the bottom of the screen
• Step 5: Scan the QR code found on at the back part of the bikeseat
• Step 6: The bike will now unlock and is now ready for use
• Step 7: Ride the bike to the desired location
• Step 8: If you wish to temporarily park the bike, stop to park the bike then click on the lock button. Click the unlock button to release the lock and the bike is ready for use once again
• Step 9: If you are finished with your ride, go to the designated parking station for 따릉이 then park the bike
• Step 10: Be sure to End the ride by clicking the button.
• Step 11: If the session is not ended, the bike may still not be properly returned. Call the 따릉이 call center and inform them about the return to avoid fines or penalties.
