준법시민교육 Law-abiding Citizen Education

What is 준법시민교육

The 준법시민교육 or Law-abiding Citizen Edication is a class usually required for visa holders who have immigration violations in the past (not reporting address changes, passport changes, etc.).

This informative session is your ticket to understanding the dos and don'ts of life in Korea. Learn what it takes to be a responsible resident and avoid common pitfalls, ensuring a smooth stay in this country.

How to apply for the 준법시민교육 class

Method 1: Recommended by the immigration officer

Most people don't really have to register and attend this class. During your immgration visit for the visa application or extension, the immigration officer has the power to require you to attend it. This is usually because the visa applicant has an immigration violation.

The immigration will either tell you the schedule or they will message you available class schedules at a later time.

Method 2: Emailing the office nearest you

Depending on the availability of the classes, you can send the application form to the closest available institution via email to register for one of the classes (see list of emails below).

The institution should reply within a week with a list of available schedules for the class.
