How to pay your bills in Korea

There are several options for your to choose to pay your bills

 

Paying bills by App Bank Transfer

If you have a bank account in Korea, the easiest way to pay your bills is to transfer funds from your account.

  • Step 1: Take a look at the paper bill you have received. It should indicate how much you have to pay, when the payment deadline is, and where to transfer the payment.
  • Step 2: Open your bank's application
  • Step 3: Select Transfer
  • Step 4: Enter the amount to be paid, Which bank to send it to, and the account number
  • Step 5: Confirm if the information like Receiver's name is correct.
  • Step 6: Enter the verification codes necessary to complete the transaction
  • Step 7: A confirmation message will pop up on the screen to confirm that the transaction was successful. 

 

Paying bills at the convenience store

  • Step 1: Take the paper bill that you have received, and confirm the amount that you have to pay
  • Step 2: Go to the nearest convenience store and tell the staff that you have to make a payment
  • Step 3: Give the staff the bill and the amount that has to be paid
  • Step 4: Once the transaction is complete, the staff will confirm that the payment was made and will return the paper bill to you.

 

Paying bills at the bank

  • Step 1: Take a look at the paper bill you have received, and confirm the amount to be paid.
  • Step 2: Go to the nearest bank (which you have an account in) and tell the staff at the door that you want to pay your bill
  • Step 3: You will be given a waiting number, take the number and wait for your number to be called.
  • Step 4: Once your number is called, go to the counter, give the paper bill and tell the staff that you want to pay your bill.
  • Step 5: The staff will then process your payment.
  • Step 6: Give your amount to be paid to the staff or the staff can transfer money directly from your account (you might need to bring your Resident card, Passbook, or Passport)
  • Step 7: When the transaction is complete the staff will return the paper bill to you.

 

Automated Transfers

In Korea, you also have the options to have automated transfers to make the payments

  • Step 1: Bring your paper bill you want to register for the automated transfer to the nearest bank where you have an account in.
  • Step 2: Tell the staff at the door that you want to make automated bills payments.
  • Step 3: You will be given a waiting number and a form to fill out, take the these and wait for your number to be called.
  • Step 4: Once your number is called, go to the counter and  tell the staff you want to have automated transfers for the bills every month.
  • Step 5: Give the staff the filled-out form, paper bill, your Resident Card, Passport, and Passbook.
  • Step 6: The staff will then process your request
  • Step 7: Once the transaction is complete, your account will now automatically transfer payments for the registered bills every month.
