There are different causes for hair loss. It could be stress, vitamin deficiency, a disease, or change in environment.

A lot of foreigners have reported that they have lost a significant amount of hair since moving to south korea. This could be because of the stress of moving to a new country, or the difference in the water quality. Nonetheless, losing so much hair would cause people to be concerned.

How to reduce hair loss while in Korea:

1. Get a shower filter
This is probably the most common and effective solution to your hair loss problem.
Water in Korea tends to be "harder" compared to water in other countries.

2. Use less heating products
Too much heat can cause hair to go dry and brittle, causing them to break apart more easily, resulting to hairloss. Avoid using your hair dryer on high, or at the very least use heat protection for your hair.

3. Check for vitamin deficiencies
Maybe it's the change in lifestyle or environment, or you are more stressed than usual. Get yourself checked if you have some sort of vitamin deficiency, especially if you have other accompanying symptoms such as lethargy or lack of energy. For some people, just taking biotin or other supplements is enough to help them reduce the amount of hair fall.

4. Change your hair product
Did you suddenly change your old hair products for the ones you can easily find in Korea? Your hair might not be used to the formulation that they use here, thus causing them to fall out. A simple switch to more natural products or hair oils could make a huge difference in your hair health.

5. Reduce stress
The stress that came with moving is probably making a toll on your health, as well as your hair. Take things slowly, and give yourself time to adjust to the new environment.

6. Biotin or Magnesium
Biotin and Magnesium are very common supplements taken by people who are experiencing hair loss. If you are indeed deficient these may help. Results may still vary, so please consult a doctor or specialist before taking any supplements.

If you think you have a medical condition, please visit your nearest dermatologist for a more thorough examination.
