How to check your Kukmin or National Pension contributions in Korea
What is Kukmin Yeongeum (국민연금) or National Pension?
It is a social insurance program designed to provide financial support to individuals during retirement. Established in 1988, the National Pension Service (NPS) manages and administers the National Pension program.
Contributions
Contributions are made by both employees and employers (50-50). Self-employed individuals contribute the full amount on their own.
The contribution amount is a percentage of the individual's income, up to a certain ceiling.

- Computer
- Kakaotalk or other accounts connected to your Resident Card
How to check your Kukmin Contributions (Computer)
Login and verify your identity
- Step 1: Visit the NPS website
- Step 2: Click on the "Check your Pension Status" category
- Step 3: Click on "Check your Pension Status" button
- Step 4: You will be redirected to the Korean page. Click on the menu bar at the top right corner
- Step 5: Select 가입내역조회 on the first panel
- Step 6: Log in your NPS account, you can do so by using your other connected accounts. In this case lets select Kakaotalk
- Step 7: Select kakaotalk from the list
- Step 8: Type in your Name, Date of Birth, and Phone number
- Step 9: Click on the 전체동의 button to accept the terms and conditions then click on 인증요청
- Step 10: Check your kakaotalk on your phone for a message from kakao wallet, click on the 인증하기 button to start the verification process
- Step 11: Click on the [Required] Consent to the provision of personal information, then click on verify
- Step 12: Type in your password, then click on OK to complete the verification process
- Step 13: Go back to your computer and click on 인증 완료
Check your contributions
- Step 1: Click on 가입내역조회 to view your contribution history
- Step 2: Scroll down to see your contribution history
- You can find all your contributions sent by your company. Sometimes, the company may pay in bulk so be sure to ask them if there are missing payments.

- How much should I pay for Pension?
This depends on your salary and bonuses. If you are employed to a company, the company usually pays for 50%. Freelancers and Business owners usually pay for the full amount. - Where can I find out how much of my salary has been contributed?
You may request for your payslip (급여 명세서) from your company.
