Getting a Korea Entry and Exit Certificate: What Foreign Residents Should Prepare
When an institution asks for proof of travel history, a flight booking or passport photograph may not be enough. Korea’s Certificate of Facts Concerning Entry and Exit records entry and departure facts held by the authorities.
Government24 lists online and in-person application routes. The applicant may apply personally or through an authorized representative, but online proxy applications are not permitted. The published fee is KRW 2,000 per copy in person, with online issuance free. 정부24
Before applying, ask the receiving institution which period the certificate must cover, what language it accepts and whether it requires a recently issued document. Request only the information necessary for the purpose.
For an in-person application, prepare accepted identification and confirm the receiving office’s requirements. A representative needs additional authorization and identification documents. Government24 lists immigration offices and local administrative offices as handling locations for foreign applicants, while advising users to confirm actual service availability with the office. 정부24
If online identity verification does not work, ask about the in-person route rather than using someone else’s login. Check your name and the requested record period carefully before submitting.
After issuance, review the dates. If a record appears missing or incorrect, ask the issuing authority how to investigate it; do not change the certificate yourself. Keep the document private because it reveals travel history and identifying information.
This certificate records past movements. It does not grant a visa, extend a stay or authorize re-entry.
