Planning Stage

1. Make sure you have a valid passport
The passport must be valid for at least 6 months before you depart for international travel.

2. Check if you need a visa or other requirements
If you're Filipino and dreaming of visiting places like Korea, Japan, Australia, the US, or Canada, remember you'll likely need a visa. Make sure to check the travel rules ahead of time to ensure a smooth journey. It's a small step that can make a big difference!

3. Plan your itinerary as needed
Want to travel freely? It's exciting, but planning is key, especially when dealing with immigration. They might ask where you're going and how long you'll stay. Having a clear plan makes things smoother. So, even if you love spontaneous trips, a bit of planning can make your journey hassle-free and enjoyable. Make it as simple or detailed as you like, but you can also just jot down 1) What you want to see 2) What you want to do or experience and 3) What you want to buy or eat then distribute these on your day-to-day plan.

3. Check the prices for flight tickets and accommodations
Don't forget to regularly check flight and accommodation prices. They often change, and keeping an eye on them is a smart way to snag the best deals for your trip. Stay savvy and save!

4. Make sure to check the weather for your travel dates
Before your trip, check the weather for your destination on your planned travel dates. Being prepared and dressed right can make your journey way more enjoyable. It's not fun exploring in the snow if you're freezing every day! Stay cozy and ready for any weather.

5. Make a checklist for the things you need to bring
Don't forget a travel checklist! It's your secret weapon to ensure you've got everything you need. From essentials like passports, adapters, chargers to special items like medications or favorite snacks, a checklist ensures you won't miss a thing.

6. Means of communication overseas
Choose between getting a sim or pocket wifi so you can still have internet access even if you are overseas.

7. Money matters: Inform your bank and exchange money
If you plan to use your bank card overeas, be sure to inform your bank so that your transactions won't be blocked by their security system. It is also a great idea to exchange a little money before your trip so you won't be stuck without cash.

8. Only pack what is necessary
Remember the essentials, but resist the urge to overpack—it'll just weigh you down. Opt for a small day bag for exploring and leave the larger one at the hotel. Travel light, stay nimble, and make the most of your adventures!

At the Airport

1. Bring copies of your supporting documents

  • Passport
  • Flight ticket
  • Hotel Booking
  • Travel Itinerary

2. Check-in online
You can reduce the amount of time standing in line by checking-in online (as early as 24~48 hours before your flight) and leave your bags at the bag drop counter when you reach the airport.

3. Take a photo of your bags before checking them in
This would be good, especially if your bag gets damaged while it was under the care of the airline. It would be easier to claim compensation if you have proof that your bag was not damaged before you checked it in.

4. Arrive early (at least 4 hours before your flight)
Filipinos love to travel, and the sheer number of people is enough to overwhelm the airport's system, making the process painfully slow.vTo avoid a hectic rush, plan to arrive early. It ensures a smoother experience, sparing you from navigating the airport in a last-minute frenzy. Early arrival - your key to stress-free travel!

5. Make sure to pay for travel tax
Filipinos are required to pay for travel tax if they plan to go outside the country for travel purposes. OFWs, International students, and foreigners are exempt from this.

6. Know the contents of your bags
Before you go, take a quick peek at what's in your bag. Knowing your packed items makes security checks a breeze. Plus, it's smart to check the do's and don'ts—see what's allowed on the plane and in the country you're visiting. A little prep goes a long way for a hassle-free journey!

7. Dress comfortably
A lot of people take airport fashion to a whole 'nother level. But comfort is definitely key, especially in long flights. Avoid wearing heels, and other uncomfortable clothes during your flight. You will be stuck in your seat for several hours, not to mention it's easier to escape danger if you are wearing sneakers.

For the Flight

1. Bring snacks for long-term flights
Airport food can be pricey, and it gets even costlier on the plane. Pack some snacks to curb hunger during the flight and save some bucks. A simple trick for a tastier and more budget-friendly journey!

2. Bring an empty waterbottle
Airport rules limit liquid carry-ons, and airport snacks can be pricey. However, there's a smart solution: bring a water bottle! Just refill it at the airside water stations, and voilà—you save some cash. Stay hydrated and budget-savvy on your journey!

3. Bring a travel pillow
Airplane seats are cramped, and sleeping isn't exactly a dream. Enhance your in-flight snooze by bringing a soft travel pillow along. It's a simple way to add some comfort to your journey and make that tight space a bit cozier. Sweet dreams in the sky!

4. Bring a jacket you can easily remove
Airplane temperatures can be unpredictable, and that small overhead fan might not cut it. Don't risk feeling chilly mid-flight—bring a jacket! Whether it's to combat the in-flight air conditioning or to cozy up during a nap, having a jacket ensures you're prepared for any temperature drop.

5. Don't forget your powerbank
Use your phone or electronic devices for hours on end without worry by bringing along a powerbank.

6. Download games, movies, or drama series
Not all airlines have in-flight entertainment, so keep yourself from getting too bored by downloading a few videos on your phone.

7. Wear compression socks
Soaring at 36,000 feet is cool, but the pressure can leave your feet feeling swollen and uncomfortable. That's where compression socks come to the rescue, keeping your feet comfy and making your flight a breeze. Say goodbye to that "too tight" feeling!
