Volunteering in Korea: Find a Community Role Through 1365
Volunteering can help foreign residents meet neighbors and contribute practical skills while getting to know a community. Korea’s 1365 Volunteer Portal provides activity listings, links to regional volunteer centers, application records and volunteer-performance services.
Start with a manageable activity near your home. Look for a clear description of the task, organizer, meeting point and time commitment. A familiar activity—such as sorting donated items or helping at a community program—can be easier to understand than a role requiring specialist knowledge.
Before applying, ask the host:
- Can foreign residents participate in this particular activity?
- What language ability, age or training is required?
- Which identification and registration method are accepted?
- Is participation confirmed, or does the application need approval?
- Are volunteer hours recorded, and how is attendance verified?
A portal listing does not establish that every resident is eligible for every role. If online identity verification fails, contact the regional volunteer center through the portal and ask about an accepted registration route.
Explain your availability honestly. Tell the coordinator in advance if you cannot attend, and avoid taking a place simply to collect a certificate. Follow instructions about safeguarding, photographs and personal information, especially when working with children or vulnerable people.
Keep the organizer’s contact details and confirm practical arrangements before traveling. If an activity includes payment or duties resembling ordinary employment, check the relevant immigration conditions before accepting it.
Browse the official 1365 Volunteer Portal and follow its regional-center links.
