How to use Digital Certificates in Korea 공동-금융인증서

Korea has unique wayw to verify your identity, one of which is to use your Digital Certificate or 공등 금융인증서.

Things to prepare: Bank Security Card, Bank App, Resident Number

Step 1: Open your Bank's Application (하나은행 HanaEZ)
Step 2: Login your account
Step 3: Click on Menu, located at the bottom right portion of the app
Step 4: Click on Security/authentication
Step 5: Click on Certificate Issuance/Re-issuance
Step 6: Enter your Resident Number or Passport Number then click on the Check button to confirm
Step 7: A popup message will appear, click on ok or confirm
Step 8: Click on the checkmark next to the Agree to the terms and conditions then click the ok button
Step 9: Enter the Password or Pin number to your account then click on the check button to confirm
Step 10: You need to verify your identity using your phone number, check the phone number if it is correct then click on the Request Verification button
Step 11: A verification number will be sent to your phone, type it in the blank space and then click ok

Things to Prepare: Your smartphone with the Digital Certificate

Step 1: Visit the Hanabank website (you can use the gobal site to use the services in English)
Step 2: Click on the Login button
Step 3: Before you can login your account, you have to install the secirity programs on your computer
Step 4: After installing the security programs, login your account by entering your ID and Password
Step 5: Once logged in, go the User guide menu and select Digital Certificate Center
Step 6: Under Copy Smartphone Banking Certificate, Click on Smartphone >>> PC
Step 7: Install the necessary programs to continue the process
Step 8: A 12-digit authentication number will be created on your computer
Step 9: On your Phone, open the bank's app and go to Menu>>> Security/authentication >>> Export Certificate (Phone >>> PC/Phone)
Step 10: Select a Bank Certificate you want to copy
Step 11: Enter the password for the Certificate
Step 12: Enter the 12-digit authentication from your computer and press the check button to confirm
Step 13: Once the authentication is complete, confirm this on your computer
Step 14: Check if the Certificate is saved in the location of your choice. The certificate usually has a name YESkey and the last name

Step 1: Under 인증서 위치, select the location where you saved your Digital Certificate
Step 2: A list of usable certificates will appear on the list, click the one you want to use
Step 3: Under the 인증서 비밀번호 입력, type in your password
Step 4: Click on the 확인 button to confirm
Step 5: If the transaction is successful, you should be able to go to the next step or login the website you are trying to open.
