Looking for a place to live in Korea can be a bit confusing because there are many different types of housing with different rules and fees. To make things easier, you can hire a real estate agent. They can help you find a place faster, assist with paperwork, and even talk to the landlord for you. Here are a few suggestions that might make your search for a house simpler.

Other things to ask before choosing a house:

• Other fees that might incur (maintenance fee - 관리비, elevator fees for moving, internet, how much electric or gas bills usually cost, etc.)
• If pets are allowed
• If noise could be heard from the neighbors (above, below, or next door)
• Options included (Bed, closet, aircon, etc.)
• If the residence contract could be registered (immigration and at the Gu)

Note:

• Many owners avoid making short-term contracts (6 months or less). So most people staying 6 months or less usually stay at Goshitels, Goshiwons, AirBnbs, or house-share.
• Prices often look like this 300/50 or 5000/40. The first number is the amount you need for the deposit and the second number is the monthly rent. So 300/50 means 3,000,000 won deposit and 500,000 won monthly rent. 5000/40 means 50,000,000 won deposit and 400,000 won monthly rent.
• If the Photos look too good and the price is very low, it might be a bait room. Some agents use this to get you to go to thier office, then tell you that the room has just recently been signed to another person.
