A Shopping Problem in Korea? Prepare a Clear Consumer Complaint
A damaged delivery, disputed cancellation or missing refund is easier to explain when the evidence is organized. Before contacting a seller or consumer service, make a short record of what happened and what outcome you are requesting.
Save the order confirmation, receipt, product description and relevant terms as they appeared when you bought the item. Photograph the condition of the product and packaging. Keep messages with the seller, including any promised collection or refund date.
Write a simple timeline: purchase, payment, delivery, discovery of the problem and first contact. Separate facts from assumptions. “The screen did not turn on when delivered” is more useful than an unsupported accusation about the seller’s intentions.
Contact the seller through its official channel and ask for a specific response, such as an explanation, repair assessment, replacement or refund review. State the order number and attach only the evidence needed. Keep the reply and any case number.
If the issue remains unresolved, consult the Korea Consumer Agency’s guidance. Its official website lists 1372 for consumer counseling and notes that call charges apply. Check available language assistance and the appropriate route for your situation rather than assuming every channel provides English service.
Counseling does not guarantee a refund. The applicable outcome can depend on the product, transaction, timing and evidence. Do not discard the product or send it back without checking the return instructions and keeping shipment records.
Use the official Korea Consumer Agency website for current counseling and dispute-resolution information.
