Korea’s 2026 Minimum Wage: The Figures Workers Should Know

Korea’s official minimum wage for 2026 is KRW 10,320 per hour, effective from January 1 through December 31, 2026.

The Minimum Wage Council also publishes these reference amounts:

  • Eight hours: KRW 82,560.

  • Monthly equivalent based on 209 hours: KRW 2,156,880.

These figures are listed in the Minimum Wage Council’s official rate table.

Understand the Monthly Figure

The published monthly amount uses a specific 209-hour calculation. It is not a universal take-home salary for every worker or schedule.

For example, a part-time worker should not compare a short working month directly with the full monthly reference amount. Start by checking the hourly rate and the working arrangement.

Questions to Ask About a Job Offer

Before accepting an offer, ask:

  • What is the hourly or monthly wage?

  • How many hours does the stated salary cover?

  • How are additional hours handled?

  • Which deductions will appear on the payslip?

Keep the written answers with your employment contract. If the calculation is unclear, ask payroll to explain the figures rather than comparing only the final bank deposit.
