an You Earn a UK Bachelor’s Degree in Under Two Years While Living in Korea?
“Can I study in Korea and complete a UK bachelor’s degree in less than two years?”
It may be possible through an accelerated diploma followed by a one-year university Top-up, if you meet the entry requirements and the university accepts your previous study. It is not a guaranteed timeline for every student.
How does the pathway work?
A typical English honours bachelor’s degree has three stages: Level 4, Level 5 and Level 6. The ICL pathway described in the programme guide combines OTHM Level 4 and Level 5 Diplomas with a university Top-up at Level 6.
The roles are different: ICL provides online learning and tutor support, OTHM awards the diploma qualification, and the university awards the final bachelor’s degree after you meet its admission and graduation requirements. Completing the diplomas alone does not give you a bachelor’s degree.
When could the full route take under two years?
The guide lists ICL’s business diplomas as a 10-month Fast-Track option or a 15-month Standard option. If you complete the Fast-Track route and then enter a one-year, full-time Top-up, the study time could add up to about 22 months.
For example, the University of Derby lists its campus-based BA (Hons) Business Management Top-up as a one-year full-time course. Entry requires a relevant HND or Foundation degree, and the university reviews previous modules for compatibility. This does not guarantee that an ICL diploma will qualify you for admission; the university makes that decision. www.derby.ac.uk
Can you complete the whole route online from Korea?
The ICL diploma stage is described as online. The Top-up format depends on the university and course. A campus-based course requires study in the UK, while an online or part-time course may follow a different schedule. The guide lists a Derby online Top-up as taking one to two years part-time, but course availability and admission routes can change.
What should international residents prepare?
Your starting point depends on your previous qualification, subject, completed modules and English ability. A university may ask for transcripts and assess whether your prior study matches the Top-up subject. English requirements are set by the university and may differ by course.
The “under two years” estimate assumes you complete the accelerated diploma and progress to a one-year full-time Top-up without a long gap. Admission decisions, course start dates and study pace can extend the overall timeline.
