Can I prepare for a UK ICL MBA if I didn’t study business? How can I fit it around work?”

Your route depends on your education, work experience, and English ability. ICL describes an online diploma pathway that may lead to an MBA Top-up at a university. The diploma and university stages have separate entry requirements, and admission is decided by the university.

Start with your education and experience

If you have a bachelor’s degree, gather your graduation certificate, transcript, and employment history. Business graduates can relate their previous studies to the programme. If you studied another subject, your degree and work experience may be assessed for relevance.

Describe management, planning, or HR experience through specific responsibilities, decisions, and contributions to your organisation. If you have limited work experience, your academic background and readiness for postgraduate study may be central to the assessment.

Applicants with a high school or college qualification may need a different route, such as further study or an experience-based assessment, where available.

How does the PG Diploma connect to an MBA?

ICL stands for International College of London. Its published information for the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership lists four mandatory units and two electives: six units in total.

The diploma is worth 120 UK credits. The pathway described includes a further 60-credit university stage, such as a dissertation. These are UK credits and should not be treated as equivalent to Korean university credits.

Completing the PG Diploma does not itself award an MBA. You must meet the university’s admission and graduation requirements to receive the final degree.

What do the core subjects cover?

Strategic Management covers analysing an organisation’s capabilities and external environment, developing strategy, and evaluating its implementation. Topics may include SWOT and PESTEL analysis, competitive advantage, and market entry.

Strategic Leadership focuses on communicating goals and leading organisational change. Topics include motivation, decision-making, conflict resolution, and organisational culture.

Strategic Human Resource Management examines how recruitment, development, and performance management can support business goals. Areas include workforce planning, training, compensation, and talent retention.

Advanced Business Research Methods introduces ways to define a business research question, collect and analyse information, and prepare a research report. This can support preparation for a later university dissertation or project.

Electives, online study, and English

The published elective options include strategic financial management, supply chain and operations management, entrepreneurship and innovation, and globalisation and corporate governance. Students take two electives.

ICL describes the diploma as online, with assessment through assignments. Working professionals can plan regular time for reading, case analysis, and written work. English requirements apply, and the university may set separate requirements for its MBA Top-up stage.

The overall study timeline depends on the diploma schedule, university admission, and the additional dissertation or project stage. The diploma study period alone does not represent the full time needed to earn an MBA.

Passmakers can explain the preparation route based on your qualifications, work experience, English level, and preferred start date. When you enquire, include these details so the next steps—from documents and course units to university progression—can be discussed.
